A Note from the Teacher

 Greetings parents/guardians,

      We are having so much fun learning in second grade!  I am very proud of our class.  We are constantly getting compliments for great behavior and our love for learning. 

       Please review and signed your child’s behavioral calendar daily.  Our goal is to provide an atmosphere and environment that is conducive for quality teaching and learning.  Each child is valued for his/her unique attributes and is an active member of our classroom community.

      As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, comments or  concerns regarding your child.  Feel free to send me a note or e-mail; you can also call the school.  I will return your message as soon as possible. Your support at home is appreciated and necessary for a great school year. 

Important info...

Homework:  Students will receive homework daily; spelling and vocabulary words each week. Students should read for 20 minutes daily.  Please review and initial your child’s reading log daily. 

Pirate Courier:  Pirate Courier goes home every Thursday with your child.  Please signed and return on Friday.

Progress Folder:  Your child’s progress folders includes important information and/or classwork samples for you to review.  Progress folders goes home every three-weeks.  Please signed and return the next day.

Conferences:  Parent/Teacher Conference are held twice each year.  Please feel free to get in contact with me anytime to discuss concerns or questions you may have.

Conduct:  Your child will have the chance to earn rewards in class for positive behavior. Consequences will be issued as needed. A letter was sent home explaining our classroom management system at the beginning of the year.

Birthdays:  You may send in a treat such as Pretzel bites, cupcakes, Munchkins, brownies or cookies. These treats will be distributed during our lunch time. Please make sure that ALL treats are nut free.

Volunteers:   Anyone who is interested in lending a hand, please let me know.  We have many opportunities to help out at home or in school. 


Daily Spelling Homework Practice                                    


Write each spelling word five times each.


Write your list of words in alphabetical order.


Sort the spelling words and write them as a cluster for each spelling pattern.  Label the spelling pattern.  Tree Map
