Ms. Hightower (Science and Social Studies)

Welcome to Ms. Hightower's Corner of the World on the
Anderson Elementary Website.

General Info

Dear Fourth Grade parents and students,

Hello and Welcome! My name is J. Hightower and I will be your child’s teacher this year!

 About Me
I graduated from Gordon State College with my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. This is my third year at Anderson Elementary and I couldn't be more excited. I have a two year old and one year twins that I adore. I am honored that you are entrusting your babies to me. Your child will grow and learn. We are going to have an excellent year!

 Our Classroom
Our classroom is a very busy place to learn. Your help will be needed throughout the school year. We must work as a team to ensure your child grows in ALL subjects. I ask that you please help your child with their homework to help reinforce the skills learned during the school day.

Communication is essential in your child’s education. You can visit this website for weekly updates, pictures, helpful resources and see everything that we are doing in the classroom. Please feel free to contact me through a note in your child’s agenda, by email, phone call or text message. I will reply within 24 hours to all inquiries and/or concerns. I welcome your thoughts and am looking forward to working together to make fourth grade a successful, fun year! **If your child changes transportation at any time, then please send a specific note to the school and call the school, so that we can ensure that your child gets home safely.**

 Classroom Behavior Plan
We use a clip chart behavior plan in our classroom. Each day every student’s clip begins on Ready to Learn(Green). Clips can be moved up the chart or down.  After a student is not following directions or misbehaves and a warning is given, their clip is moved to Slow Down (Yellow). If the behavior continues then they are moved to Think About It(Orange). If student continues to misbehave  they are placed on Contact Home (Red) and will receive a note home. The student can go back to Ready to Learn from Think About It, but not from Contact Home. I don’t expect to have any behavior problems in my class, because our goal is to be the best class in the entire school!

Each day students are responsible for writing their homework for the day in their agenda and returning it on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I look forward to seeing you very soon in our fourth grade classroom! Again, I am so excited and ready to work with you as a team as we help your child grow academically each and every day!

Your new teacher,

     Ms. J. Hightower
